A full house is a five-card poker hand made up of three cards of one rank and two cards of another. It’s a very strong hand—ranked above a flush and below four of a kind in standard hand rankings.
The hand is named like this: “Three of a kind over a pair.” For example, three 10s and two 4s would be called “Tens full of Fours.” If two players both have a full house, the one with the higher three-of-a-kind wins. If those are equal, the pair breaks the tie.
Full houses are powerful, but on certain boards, they can be beaten by quads or higher full houses, so reading the table is key.
