A call lets you see more cards (like the turn or river) or go to showdown to see who wins the pot. You can call with strong hands, drawing hands, or even with weak hands if you think your opponent might be bluffing.
But calling too much without a plan can make you a “calling station”—a player who leaks chips by refusing to fold.
