The Big Blind Ante is a tournament poker rule where one player—the big blind—posts the ante for the whole table each hand, instead of every player posting a small ante.
This system was designed to speed up play, especially in live tournaments. Instead of dealers collecting chips from every player, the big blind simply puts in one larger amount that acts as the ante for everyone.
The amount is usually equal to the big blind itself. So if the blinds are 1,000/2,000, the big blind pays 2,000 plus a 2,000 ante. It rotates around the table just like the big blind does.
