All In is one of the most dramatic and well-known moves in poker. It means a player is betting all of their remaining chips on a single hand. Once you go all in, you can’t bet any more—but you also can’t be forced to fold, because you’ve got nothing left to wager.
Going all in can be a strategic move to pressure opponents, or it might be a last stand when you’re short-stacked (low on chips). If other players still have chips, they can keep betting—but the all-in player is only eligible to win the amount they matched, which creates something called a side pot.
You’ll also hear “all in” used metaphorically outside poker to mean someone’s fully committed to something—just like in the game.
