In poker, a flash happens when a card is accidentally exposed during the deal—usually just for a moment. It’s a dealer error or a slip during the dealing process, where a card is briefly seen by one or more players when it shouldn’t be.
A flashed card doesn’t mean cheating—it’s typically unintentional. But depending on when and how it’s flashed, the card may need to be removed from play and replaced with the next one in the deck. This helps keep the game fair, since someone catching a glimpse of a card (even for a second) could gain an advantage.
Note: Flash is not the same as a flush, which is a five-card hand of the same suit.
