LAG stands for Loose Aggressive, a poker playing style where a player plays a wide range of hands (loose) and does so with frequent betting and raising (aggressive). LAG players love to keep the pressure on their opponents—often entering pots with marginal hands and using big bets to win without always needing the best cards.
This style is high-risk, high-reward. It can generate big profits by forcing folds, controlling the action, and disguising hand strength—but it also takes skill, timing, and deep reads to avoid getting caught.
LAGs are the opposite of TAGs (Tight Aggressive players), who play fewer hands more selectively. A strong LAG is unpredictable, hard to read, and relentless.
