Stack to Pot Ratio (SPR) is a poker concept that compares the size of a player’s stack to the size of the pot after the flop. It helps you decide how committed you are to the hand—and whether you should play cautiously, bet aggressively, or go all-in.
The formula is simple:SPR = Stack size ÷ Pot size (after the flop)
A low SPR (like 2 or less) means your stack is small compared to the pot, so you’re likely committed and can comfortably go all-in with top pair or better. A high SPR (like 6 or more) gives you more room to maneuver, so you need stronger hands (like two pair or better) to get all your chips in.
SPR is a key tool for post-flop decision-making, especially in tournament play and short-stacked situations.
