A showdown in poker is the moment at the end of a hand when all remaining players reveal their cards to determine who wins the pot. It only happens if two or more players are still in the hand after the final round of betting (usually the river in games like Texas Hold’em or Omaha).
Once the last bet is called, the cards are turned face-up, and the dealer (or software, if online) compares hands to find the winner based on the game’s hand rankings.
If one player bets and everyone else folds before the showdown, there’s no need to show cards—the last player just wins the pot.
The showdown is where all the action pays off—or falls apart. It’s the final reveal, and sometimes the most dramatic moment of the hand.
